Claire Clutterham MP is the federal Labor Member for Sturt in South Australia. Elected in 2025, she became the first woman to represent the electorate in federal Parliament. She lives in Sturt with her husband and stepdaughter and brings experience from law, local government and community service to her role.
Before entering Parliament, Claire worked as a lawyer across Australia, Asia and the Middle East. She later worked in Australia’s defence industry on projects connected to national security. Her career has given her experience in both international and local settings.
Claire previously served as an elected councillor on the Norwood Payneham and St Peters Council and contributed to the Royal Flying Doctor Service in South Australia and the Northern Territory. She now represents Sturt on parliamentary committees as well as in the House of Representatives.
Outside politics, Claire is a keen runner who enjoys the reserves around Sturt. For this AMA, she welcomes questions about her path into politics, her work as a local MP and the issues that matter to people in Sturt and across Australia.
