Welcome to this week’s episode of Australia Asks. This week we are asking: “What is the truth behind Pauline Hanson’s claims?” We’ll take a close look at Pauline Hanson’s recent address to the National Press Club. During that speech, Hanson made a series of claims about immigration, multiculturalism, climate change, the economy, energy policy and Australian society. Supporters praised her for “telling it like it is.” Critics argued that many of her statements were misleading, exaggerated, or simply untrue.
In this episode, we’re going to examine what I believe are the ten most misleading claims Pauline Hanson made during that speech. Now, this isn’t about personal attacks, political tribalism, or whether you like Pauline Hanson or not. The purpose of this podcast is much simpler: to compare political claims with the available evidence.
For each claim, we’ll look at three things. First, what Pauline Hanson actually said. Second, what the evidence from experts, official statistics, and credible sources tells us. And third, why the issue matters to Australians and the quality of our public debate.
