Ellen Sandell MP: Cost of Living Australia – Cheaper Groceries, Rent Caps & Free Public Transport?

.

How can we make life more affordable in Australia? In this interview clip, we discuss proposals to tackle the cost of living, from cheaper groceries and housing to lower energy bills and free public transport.

Responding to an audience question, our guest outlines an election platform that includes building more public housing, limiting rent increases to wage growth, cutting stamp duty, introducing publicly owned supermarkets and expanding publicly owned renewable energy.

Who would pay for these policies? The guest argues that big banks, gambling companies and fossil fuel companies should contribute more tax to fund measures that help everyday Australians.

Could these proposals ease household budgets? Watch the response and share your views in the comments.

Which would make the biggest difference to you: cheaper groceries, affordable housing, lower electricity bills or free public transport?
