Senator David Pocock is an independent senator representing the Australian Capital Territory and the first independent senator elected by ACT voters. Born and raised in Zimbabwe, he moved to Australia as a teenager before building an outstanding international rugby career, captaining the Wallabies and serving as vice-captain of the Brumbies. After retiring from professional rugby, he continued his work in environmental advocacy, community development and sustainable agriculture before being elected to the Senate in 2022.
In Parliament, David has focused on housing affordability, cost-of-living pressures, healthcare, climate action, environmental protection and improving integrity in Australian politics. He has promoted a more independent and community-driven approach to representation, working across party lines while advocating for Canberra and greater accountability in government. Today, Senator Pocock joins us for a Reddit AMA to answer your questions about politics, policy, life in Parliament and his journey from international rugby to the Australian Senate.
