This week’s episode of the Australia Asks video podcast asks the question: ““What are the facts about the cost of living, housing affordability, and the changes to negative gearing and capital gains tax?”

The cost of living has become the biggest political issue in Australia because it affects everyone. Whether you’re a student, a young family trying to buy your first home, someone paying rent, a mortgage holder, or a retiree living on a fixed income, rising prices are putting pressure on household budgets. At the same time, housing affordability has become one of the defining challenges of our generation, with many Australians questioning whether home ownership is slipping further out of reach.

In today’s episode, we’re going to cut through the political spin and look at the evidence. This isn’t about supporting one political party or attacking another. It’s about understanding the economic realities behind the headlines.

We’ll examine ten of the biggest issues shaping the national debate, including inflation, energy prices, fuel costs, interest rates, housing affordability, capital gains tax, negative gearing, falling house prices, government support measures, and the long-term policy choices facing Australia.
