Craig Hill is a teacher, corporate trainer, business consultant and journalist. He has lived in Carindale for six years, where he owns and operates the Australian Business and Leadership School, an education and business consultancy service. He is married to Fatemeh and has an adult stepdaughter. He is the Legalise Cannabis Party candidate for the seat of Bonner in Queensland.
Craig describes himself as an education tragic who is always looking for new vocational challenges. He holds a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration (Leadership), a Graduate Certificate in Education (TESOL). a Bachelor of Training and Development (Management), an Advanced Diploma of Adult Education and vocational certificates in Training and Assessment, Journalism, Accounting, and Information Technology.
Professionally, Craig has held management roles in education, business, health, community services, construction, and retail, as well as three years on the National Executive of the Australian Democrats as Vice President and Treasurer. He has spent many years living on Aboriginal communities and in China.
He has had articles on social justice published in almost 200 newspapers across Australia. His blog articles on Chinese politics have been cited in international media including the New York Times, BBC, South China Morning Post, Philippines Star, Fox News, the National Enquirer and many others.
His support for easier access to medicinal cannabis stems from personal experience. Craig lives with PTSD after being taken hostage while teaching in a maximum-security prison. His belief in the legalisation of cannabis for recreational use is shaped by his time as a prison officer, where he witnessed firsthand the brutalisation of young “offenders” caught up in the justice system for possession and use of cannabis.
Craig is passionate about personal freedoms, social justice and evidence-based policy. He is dedicated to representing the voices of his community and advocating for national cannabis law reform. Living in the Bonner electorate, he is also deeply committed to addressing the local issues that matter most to residents.
Bonner electorate has been neglected for decades. If elected, Craig has the capacity and experience to change all that.
