My name is Craig Hill, and I am the Legalise Cannabis Party candidate for my local seat of Bonner (Brisbane) in the 2025 Federal election. Other parties concentrate on the same tired old promises that they drag out at every election, and then ignore after they win. Only the Legalise Cannabis Party looks to the future with a sustainable and realistic business plan that will benefit our electorate and everyone who lives in it.
With Brisbane set to host the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, ensuring a successful and cost-effective event is a top priority. While the current plan places the Olympic Village in Hamilton, a much more practical and efficient option exists—right here in my local seat of Bonner.
Why Bonner is the Ideal Location
- Many Olympic events are already confirmed for Bonner, including: Shooting, gymnastics, track and BMX cycling, diving, and water polo at the Sleeman Sports Complex in Chandler
- The sailing will be in Manly
- Paralympic events like wheelchair basketball, artistic swimming, cycling, and shooting will also take place in Bonner
With these venues already in place, it makes sense to build the Olympic Village nearby, reducing travel times for 16,000 athletes and officials and ensuring smoother logistics and security.
The Benefits for Our Community
Infrastructure & Housing
- Olympic Village housing can be converted into 4,000–6,000 homes post-Games, with at least 30–40% dedicated to affordable housing.
- Upgrades to roads, utilities, and public transport would leave a lasting benefit for Bonner residents.
Jobs & Economic Growth
- 10,000–15,000 construction jobs and new long-term employment opportunities in retail, hospitality, and event management.
- Increased tourism and a strengthened local property market.
- The establishment of a new entertainment precinct near the Olympic Village, similar to South Bank and Caxton Street.
Improved Transport
- Road expansions on the Gateway Motorway, Wynnum Road, and Old Cleveland Road.
- Possible extension of the Cleveland train line and dedicated bus rapid transit (BRT) lanes.
- Enhanced transport links to Brisbane Airport.

Bringing the Olympic Village to Bonner isn’t just about the 2032 Games—it’s about investing in our future. This plan would provide affordable housing, create jobs, and improve local amenities, ensuring long-term benefits for our community.
