Commercial Radio Hong Kong reports this morning: Blind Chinese rights activist Chen Guangcheng and his three family members arrived by airplane at Newark Liberty International Airport, New York, the United  States. June 4 Student Protests leaders Wu’erkaixi and Chai Ling met him at the airport. They described Chen as a hero and hoped that he would take a good rest after his arrival.

Wu’erkaixi pointed out Beijing’s indulgence of local government’s persecution of Chen has caused it to face international pressure. He uses a Chinese saying “refuse a toast only to drink a forfeit” to describe Beijing’s being constrained to do what it at first declined. He hopes that Beijing will learn a lesson from the incident. Moreover, he points out, The incident proves that it works to pressure Beijing.
