2009 Kia Cerato (2008)

Taking centre stage at the Kia stand at this year’s Australian International Motor Show is the stylishly European Kia Cerato sedan, the ‘new face of Kia’ scheduled for release on the local market in early 2009.

As the ‘new face of Kia’, the Cerato features a new H-grille design penned by Kia’s global chief design officer, Peter Schreyer, a former designer of the Volkswagen Group. Set to feature on subsequent new Kia models, the Korean car makers hopes the new H-grille corporate face will increases its brand value. The new Cerato will bridge the gap between small and medium cars with the space, performance, features and value that many Australian car buyers are seeking, without having to pay more for a medium-sized car with a larger and less economical engine.

With overall dimensions that are both longer and wider than the current Cerato sedan, the new Cerato is spacious and offers comfortable interior room for five occupants and a bigger boot.
Featuring a new, efficient 2.0-litre engine with Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT), Kia claims the powertrain delivers the pulling power and responsiveness of a 2.2-litre engine without the fuel consumption of a bigger engine.

While final specifications and pricing for Australian vehicles is still to be determined, the new Cerato, like all new Kia vehicles now sold in Australia, will be covered by a 5-year/unlimited kilometre warranty for private buyers (5-year/130,000kms for fleet buyers).
