Major Projects

As a manager, I have participated in the following major projects over the past 25 years:

2021
Helping organise introduction of social media advertising for Australian Democrats.
2021

Writing media releases and helpin organise national coverage for Australian Democrats in digital, print and radio media. This includes compiling a database of email and phone contacts for over 400 media publications across Australia.
2021


Appointed as Treasurer of Australian Democrats: maintaining financial records; maintaining financial reports; preparing tax returns and BAS. Introduced financial accounting system with integration of online banking, Stripe and CiviCRM. Reorganised financial structure of organisation.
2020


Edited digital video library (over 1,000 videos) from DVD, MKV, AVI and MP4 formats to standardised MP4 format (720 x 576 pixels at 1866 kbit/s), including quality enhancement, compression, cropping, trimming and volume adjustment as necessary.
2019

Elected National Vice President of Australian Democrats after re-registration. Assisting National President and coordinating with State Presidents. Assisting with developing and implementing policies and campaign platforms.
2019
Wrote media releases for Australian Democrats during federal election.
2017

Led work team to design curriculum and assessment tasks for all units in Certificates I, II, III and IV of Spoken and Written English.
2016
Led work teams to conduct compliance and validation tasks for various RTOs.
2015Led work team to design curriculum specific to African refugees/asylum seekers, many of whom have not had schooling in their country of origin, and have not learnt to read or write in their own language. Additionally, no translation tools are readily available.
2014
Joined Salford College English Language Advisory Panel.
2013


Participated in Queensland Labor Policy Network (including Higher Education) – Governance, Defence and Foreign Policy Committee; Social Policy Committee. Created videos and social media for election campaign (Social Media Organising Team).
2011

Wrote and directed a play in China for teenage speakers of English as a second language. The play was one of twelve finalists in a national competition, from 2500 schools and 1.5 million students involved.
2007
Worked in Honolulu, USA to address issues of homelessness for six months.
2006
Invited by Senator Andrew Bartlett to work at a federal government level addressing issues of homelessness in Queensland.
2006

Received offer from Vodafone Australia of $75,000 to continue training and housing project for the homeless for 12 months, as well as to write magazine articles on this subject. Unable to complete project because of injury.
2006

Received $10,000 funding from Sarina Russo, owner of Russo Education, for six month project helping to train and house homeless people.
2003

Nine city tour of China, over nine weeks, lecturing at 15 universities on Aboriginal education and communities to Chinese students.
2000



Woorabinda Aboriginal Community, QLD – Received approval from state government to enrol approved minor offenders into multi-RTO Literacy and Numeracy program, as an alternative to Community Service Orders and short prison terms. Enrolment increased from mainstream of 8 students (non-offenders in original program) to 83 students. Funding increased from $320,000 to $2.4 million (funding for 60 students received).
1998
Australian Red Cross – Coordinator of Red Cross Calling in Goulburn, NSW.
1998

Australians For Reconciliation – formed and chaired a group in Goulburn, NSW. Wrote articles in local paper about groups activities. Also represented Goulburn Council at Canberra Reconciliation Council meetings.
1996


Southern Areal Health Service – Designed and implemented new procedures for the collection and destruction of infectious materials and sharp objects used in medical procedures. Arranged training for all staff in these procedures, including all hospitals, private doctors, health services and chemists in Southern Area Health District.
1995


New Goulburn Racecourse Project – Designed and implemented Quality Assurance (QA) system (ISO 9000 series) for civil engineering company, and acted as onsite QA Manager for the $5 million construction site (six months), with 60 staff and sub-contractors. Moved 350,000 cubic metres of earth in 17 days. Brought first stage of project to completion six months early, and half a million dollars under budget.
